This box is actually made from just one piece of cherry moulding that I layered and turned upside down and backwards to create this design. The handle and the feet are little wooden balls that I stained to match, so I'm not sure what wood they are made from. As you can see, there are three sections making two separate tiny storage areas.
I've made all these boxes and mirrors and so no two are alike. My boxes can hold your jewelry or other collections. A wonderful decorative or functional piece for your mantel or table and makes a great gift. These are one of a kind works of art for home decor and made from recycled picture frames and whatever I find. There are slight imperfections that are not flaws, just the nature of being handmade.
I think that this is the first box that I ever made, so it does have a few tiny spots from being on display - it's never been for sale until now. It was in 1998, for a book we were writing with Vivian Kistler. The book is Decorative Accessories Made From Moulding, ISBN 0-938655-60-4 Columba Publishing Company, Inc. You can purchase this book on Amazon for anywhere between $16.33 or $1292.26 from Japan!
Measures approximately 4” x 4” x 6 1/2" tall
In between custom framing clients, we make stuff out of the extra moulding. The insides and bottom are covered with suede or linen matting boards also from my custom picture framing business. These are really fun to make and are great for gifts!!
